Residential Neighborhoods
The Village of La Grange Park is an affluent bedroom community known for its historic homes and tree lined streets. The Village has been recognized by Forbes Magazine as having one of the most stable housing markets in the country. La Grange Park has a wide range of housing options available at all price points. Housing options include: apartments, duplexes, single-family homes, and two senior living facilities. The Village’s housing stock ranges from historic homes built in the early 1900’s to brand new homes and includes everything in between.
Home Styles
The Village is known for its many Joern homes. Built by Charles Joern during the 1940s, 1950s and 1960s, these homes are historically and architecturally significant. Other architectural styles found in the Village include Victorian’s, bungalows, Arts and Crafts, Craftsman, four squares, and many more. The Village considers itself a “front porch community” and strives to maintain the aesthetics and character of its neighborhoods. Residents can often be seen sitting on their front porches, children play in front yards, and neighbors gather at annual block parties. The Village is home to over 100 block parties each year.
Walkable Areas
Many of La Grange Park’s neighborhoods enjoy walkable access to the many retail and restaurant opportunities offered both within and just outside our community. Much of La Grange Park is walkable to one of three nearby BNSF Metra stations, making the community a desirable location for commuters to downtown Chicago. With several local elementary schools and one junior high school, children enjoy the opportunity to walk or bike to school each day.
