The Village Board recently approved an 8.0% increase to the Village’s water rate effective May 1, 2015. This increase is primarily a pass-through of a rate increase from the Village’s water supplier, the Brookfield North Riverside Water Commission (BNRWC), which purchases water from the City of Chicago. The City of Chicago raised its water rates by 15% effective January 1st of this year.
Village Offices will close at 12:00 p.m. on Friday, April 3rd in observation of Good Friday. Regular business hours will resume on Monday, April 6th at 8:30 a.m. The Police and Fire Departments will remain open.
A draft of the proposed Village Budget for fiscal year 2015-2016 is now available online and at Village Hall for review. The Village's fiscal year runs from May 1st through April 30th. The draft budget will be presented to the public at the April 14th Village Board Work Session (7:15 p.m.) and considered by the Village Board for adoption at the April 28th Village Board meeting.
On March 24, 2015 the Village Board appointed Jamie Zaura to fill the vacancy on the Village Board left by former Trustee Mario Fotino in February. Ms. Zaura will serve the remaining two year term.
Please mark your calendars and save the date for “Coffee with the Chief”. Come meet and speak with our Police Chief, Ed Rompa on April 23rd from 6:30 – 7:30 p.m. in the Village Board meeting room. He will share some information on current Police Department efforts and take questions and concerns from residents in attendance.
Interested in serving your community? The Village is now accepting applications for an open position on the Zoning Board of Appeals (ZBA). The ZBA is responsible for making recommendations to the Village Board regarding zoning map and text amendments, variation and special use requests and planned unit development applications.
The Village is pleased to announce that it has scheduled the annual Community Volunteer Day for Saturday, April 25th from 9:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. During the event, community volunteers provide assistance to seniors in the community who need help with basic lawn care and “spring clean-up” chores.
