Help Identify Pedestrian & Bicycle Safety Issues in Your Community
Are you aware of areas in your community that may be unsafe for pedestrians, bicyclists, or other vulnerable road users? You can help improve safety by identifying these locations in a new online map. The Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) is seeking this input and will use the data to inform a vulnerable road user (VRU) safety assessment, which is required by the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act. Add locations to the map.
In addition, IDOT is hosting a series of engagement sessions for the VRU Safety Assessment. During these webinars, IDOT will share initial safety analysis findings and moderate a discussion to hear from stakeholders. IDOT would like to learn about your pedestrian and bicyclist safety needs and priorities to enhance the analysis and direct outcomes to improve VRU safety statewide. Four webinars will take place June 7 and 8 with discussions specific to different areas, including Urbanized Areas (Wednesday, June 7, 9:30-11:30 a.m.) and Cook County (Thursday, June 8, 9:30-11:30 a.m.).
The Village Board accepted the Village Market Streetscape Improvement Plan at the Village Board Work Session Meeting on Tuesday, March 14. As a reminder, all project documents and a summary of community engagement activities can be found on the Village’s website.
