Investing in Illinois, a Nicor Gas system improvement initiative is a multi-year initiative to modernize aging natural gas infrastructure and enhance the safety and reliability of the natural gas distribution system. The improvements being made to infrastructure through Investing in Illinois are designed to allow Nicor to continue to deliver natural gas safely and reliably to customers.

IHB to La Grange Road, between Homestead Road and Garfield Avenue: K/S Energy is continuing to install new gas mains in the project area. The work includes the removal of sidewalks at service line locations and excavating receiving pits. Next week, the contractor plans to work on Community between Monroe and Harding and on Sherwood between Homestead and Woodlawn.
IHB to Kemman Avenue, between 31st Street & Oak Avenue: Nicor’s subcontractor began restorations in the project area this week. The work included preparing, framing, and pouring sidewalk squares that were removed for the improvements. Public Works staff will start walking the site next week to create a punch list of items that Nicor will be required to complete.
