Video Gaming

**UPDATE 1/25/2023** At the January 24, 2023 Village Board Meeting, the Village Board approved a motion to uphold the Village's prohibition on video gaming (no gaming). With this action, the discussion comes to a close.

At the Village Board meeting on November 9, 2022, staff provided information regarding the State of Illinois Video Gaming Act and how municipalities can exercise local control over video gaming within their jurisdictions. This overview was provided at the direction of the Board after two local restaurant owners requested that the Village Board consider reversing the ban on video gaming. Ordinance No. 914, which prohibits video gaming within the Village, has been in effect since January 12, 2010.

At the direction of the Village Board, staff and the Village Attorney prepared a draft ordinance pertaining to the regulation of video gaming in the Village of La Grange Park. The draft ordinance was intended to guide the discussion at the January work session meeting. After significant community feedback and discussion, the Village Board will be considering a motion at the January 24, 2023 meeting to uphold to prohibition on video gaming. This item will be on the consent agenda (omnibus vote).
