Karen Koncel was appointed to the Village Board in 2020 and elected in 2021.  Ms. Koncel has been a resident of La Grange Park since 1991.  During this time, she has been involved in many projects and organizations; including serving for 10 years as a member of the La Grange Park Zoning Board of Appeals (now the Planning and Zoning Commission), Delegate, Recording Secretary, and Chairperson of the La Grange Park Caucus, participant of the Ad Hoc Committee for Public Works Garage renovations in 2012, campaign coordinator for the 2016 Bond Referenda which addressed road improvement projects throughout the Village as well as obtaining funds for a new ambulance and Fire Department ladder truck.  Ms.  Koncel has also dedicated much time volunteering for other organizations including School District 102, Forest Road School and the LGPLL Ladies Auxiliary.

Ms. Koncel has always been an advocate of the phrase “Service above self”, thereby promoting what is best for all as opposed to what is self-serving.  She feels that serving on the Village Board gives her the opportunity to continue this commitment to others.   Ms. Koncel believes that the Village of La Grange Park is a great place to live and raise a family.  She is  dedicated to maintaining fiscal responsibility and promoting the continued growth and economic success of the Village.
